Another sold out Creative Arts Production was produced by the Institute of Wellbeing at Fairfield Halls this October 2008. Celebrating and in Partnership with Croydon Council, the theme for the Institutes yearly Keep the Love Alive Campaign was “Focus on the Family”; with emphasis on challenging family dynamics, the impact of parents relationships on a child’s wellbeing and the importance of parental responsibility as positive role models.
The family comedy / drama sketches were Written & Directed by Angie Le Mar with guest appearances from hers truly and cast from EastEnders and The Brothers.
Followed by a facilitated and interactive debate with a panel of professionals, a platform was given where the audience had an opportunity to have a voice, discuss serious and important issues and hear the views of others, as the performance content served as a trigger for thought, reflection and correction.
Building on the success of Croydon Parenting Week 2007, the Institute’s strategic partnerships with central, local government, third sector national and local family support sector partner organisations, continues to improve support to parents, families and local communities.
At a time when most families are worried about surviving the credit crunch, relationship and parenting challenges, peer pressure, raising aspirations, teenage parenting, culture differences and a concern for the future - parents may well be feeling under pressure. This annual, informative and entertaining day out offered an opportunity for all families within the Borough to take time out.
