Impact of parental conflict on parenting
Parenting > Research

•When children are drawn into parental conflict, the effects can be profoundly damaging.

Relationship difficulties can affect and have consequences on parenting.

Our research findings show that when couples are experiencing relationship difficulties this can affect and have consequences on their parenting skills as well as their children and families.

Some 3 million of 12 million children in this country have experienced the separation of their parents. When couples run into relationship difficulties and in particular where children are drawn into parental conflict, the effects can be profoundly damaging. We also know that risks can be reduced if parents can resolve relationship issues in an amicable fashion.

Research such as DeForges also sites that children’s educational achievements can also be impaired by poor parenting and relationship difficulties.

2as1 Positive Parenting (either as a course in its own right or as part of our Life Choices Programme) equips parents with the relevant tools to provide good parenting in times of crisis, challenge and change.
