Men's Grooming

It was not so long ago that unkempt men were considered ‘sexy' by many women around the world. I suppose there is also an argument which supports men who wanted to look like a Hollywood star. My memories of the 70's concerning grooming products ads were for ‘Brut aftershave – with British boxing legend Henry Cooper saying, "Splash it all over" with a reassuring grin. Secondly the ‘Brylcreem' hair cream for men. Strangely back then not too many men would admit to using either product.

How have things changed since then? Well, today men are encouraged through the media and other sources to make the effort with their grooming.

From the catwalk to the high-street you will see boys to men who have taken the time to ensure they look the part and for many, the high-street has become their catwalk where they can show off their looks, posing in the super malls with their friends.

Footballers, David Beckham and Ronaldo have become well groomed fashion icons for many. Just looking at them you can tell that they are well put together. It does not matter how long or short their hair are, whether shaven or not, they both look the part. David Beckham is the unelected ambassador for men's grooming in the UK; however, his popularity spans the globe. Grooming has gone to a whole new level, you can achieve the look you desire through cosmetic surgery, but that's another subject.

I should also highlight that there is a difference between good-hygiene and good-grooming. The first speaks of cleanliness and the latter is ‘to care for your appearance.'
