Yes, often time’s clients are referred either by a friend, family member, specialist organisation or GP.

It depends a lot on the clients’ goals and level of functioning they desire to reach. But, it also depends greatly on the nature of the issue(s). We offer long or short-term support. Each session lasts 50 minutes. On average people about six sessions per week is adequate. In your first counselling session, the counsellor will give you an idea of how sessions are required.

No. We see anybody who has personal, family or relationship concerns, difficulties or problems that they want to discuss.

Clients can start by helping themselves by being committed and honest to the counselling process. It will take effort and determination. You are half-way there by recognising the need for help and making your first appointment.

Our counsellors abide by the ‘Ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy’ set down by the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). Everything you tell us during your counselling sessions is confidential – between you and the counsellor. Confidentiality will only be broken in exceptional circumstances, which include:
•Disclosure of personal involvement in any incidence of terrorism.
•A counsellor is required by law to report child abuse.
•When there is a alleged self-harm or harm to others.

These are all modern devices used daily for communication. Nowadays, clients constantly have pressures, location, restricted time, identity, finances or disability issues, prohibiting them from accessing and receiving counselling when needed. Now, no-one is exempt.
